Who We Are

Empowering communities, transforming lives since 1995
Prattasha Samazik Unnayan Sangstha (PSUS)

About Organization

Chuadanga is one of the south-western districts in Bangladesh. Low literacy rate, high dropout rate from school, high rate of population growth, maternal and child mortality, poor nutrition, sanitation and health status are common features of the region. The economy of the area mainly depends on agriculture which is again vulnerable to natural calamities, storage of agricultural inputs and decreasing cultivable land.

This situation influenced a group of energetic social workers including Md. Bellal Hossain to carry out some humanitarian and rehabilitation works for improving the socio-economic condition of the poor; particularly of the marginalized, disable children and vulnerable communities. The close involvement with local communities at that time was one of the stimulating factors to think for establishing an organization that will undertake initiatives for the development of the deprived, disadvantaged and the poor in the constructive way.

The Prattasha Samazik Unnayan Sangstha (PSUS) was established finally at February 02, 1995 with the leadership of Md. Bellal Hossain. It is a voluntary, non-profit and development organization. The founding objective of the organization was to put efforts collectively for improving socio-economic condition of the marginalized people in the society particularly of the poor women and deprived children.
